Rosaleen Sanderson

Rosaleen Sanderson studied painting at the Belfast College of Art and went on to teach art for many years in Northern Ireland and in England. She now lives in County Down where she paints full time. Her work is found in public and private collections in Ireland, the UK, Europe, Canada and the USA.
Rosaleen's work expresses her sheer delight in the human figure. She describes her earliest fascination with art as being focused on the Italian Renaissance, in particular, the working drawings of Raphael and Michaelangelo.
Her paintings honour the beauty and the power of the human form. She revels in depicting what lies under the surface, the raw power and energy of the figure rather than the gloss of the surface. While Rosaleen's work is analytical, it is not dispassionate, but filled with warmth. Ultimately her work is a celebration of the elegance and grace of the human figure.
