Colin Gibson
Colin Gibson was born in Belfast in 1948. After spending the early years of his career as a graphic designer with the Belfast Telegraph Colin made the decision to turn professional at the tender age of 26. With his first solo exhibition with the Nelson Bell Gallery in 1968, Colin has built up a prestigious client base including organisations such as the Bank of Ireland, P&O Cruises, Doyle Hotel Group... Colin's work is well known and respected amongst Irelands art collectors, instantly recognised for his distinctive style that captures Ireland in its true colour. Such is his appeal that Colin's work truly does travel world-wide with collectors as far off as Canada, America, and Australia.
Over his 34 years as a professional, Colin has spent a lot of time travelling Ireland studying the islands dramatic landscape. During his travels Colin would paint 'on the spot' or "en plein air", acheiving a wonderful spontaneity and looseness to the painting.
This release of a number of Colin's "plein air" studies is a supberb opportunity to purchase some of his work. Colin's more detailed studio based paintings of Ireland recently fetched in excess of £1500 at the prestigious Christies Irish Art Sale. His Gallery prices range from £600 to £2000 so these beautiful "en plein air" studies are sure to be a great investment.
